Hello everybody!
While I was able to preside and preach at the 5:00 p.m. Saturday mass the previous weekend, it was a great blessing for me to be back with you at the masses this past Sunday. Thank you for contributing to the work God is doing in our community. I am truly grateful for you and I love serving as your pastor. It is good to be home!
I will be joining with our amazingly talented students for their production of High School Musical, Jr. this weekend. It is always an inspiration for me to see the dedication, creativity, and passion of our children and it lifts my hope and optimism for the future. Because of the play, our Lenten Fish Fry season has ended with another successful year. I want to thank, once again, John Coons and the many volunteers who give so much to create a consistently excellent experience for our community and beyond. I also really enjoy the food!
Lent is coming to an end as we prepare for the culmination of our preparation in the celebration of Easter. This is the most significant Feast we celebrate, as the gift of our redemption is poured out for us in the love of Jesus on the cross and new life given to us from an empty tomb. We enter Holy Week this weekend with the Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion. At the 11:00 a.m. mass, we will have the procession with palm branches. Our final special Lenten opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be this evening at 6:30 p.m. following the Stations of he Cross at 6:00 p.m., which will be led by our Youth Ministry featuring music from the decades and images from The Passion of the Christ.
In these few remaining days of Lent, I hope you can find some quiet time to contemplate Jesus’s great love for each of us in his sacrifice. It is through him that we, too, pass from death to life. May God bless you and all those whom you love.
Peace,
Fr. Jeff
